There are a lot of churches in Knoxville. Sevier Heights has some things in common with many of them. What is different about this church, and what should you expect to be the same?
Jesus began his ministry, not with a large crowd, a formal program or an organized event, but by informally building friendships with people. When they trusted him, then they and their friends, family members and coworkers became his followers. Sevier Heights follows this pattern by emphasizing formation of authentic relationships with Jesus Christ and with other people.
Sevier Heights has become known as a place of honest teaching from God’s Word, warm personal relationships and incredible music. These things combine to speak volumes about real life. The vehicles through which we provide these things are Worship, Bible Fellowship and Small Groups.
The traditional church has typically offered a worship service and a Sunday School class. Contemporary churches have gone toward a casual celebration service and small groups. Sevier Heights is a rare church where the connection with Jesus and others is solidified through three mechanisms: Worship, Bible Fellowship and Small Groups. These three are our core ministries. There are also many other programs through which this church takes care of people and reaches out to the community. However, they all stem from the core ministries that build our essential relationships.
Here you will find the good news of Jesus communicated with creativity, hospitality and authenticity. In the warm setting of our facility, with its safe and secure children’s areas, you will have the memorable experience of getting out of the house and away from your job, and being together with your family as a part of God’s family.
People are increasingly busy, isolated, lonely and disconnected. They are looking for solutions in many different things, but those attempts come up empty. They long for more. The kindest gift we can offer is connection with Jesus and His people. Life with Him is the very thing we all need.
